Statue of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika (ড.ভূপেন হাজৰিকা, 1926-2011) | Sculptor: Biren Singha
A legendary figure about whom I grew up listening to, I will fall short of words if I have to describe him, and he is none other than Dr. Bhupen Hazarika (ড.ভূপেন হাজৰিকা, 1926-2011) who was an Indian lyricist, musician, singer, poet and film-maker from Assam, was widely known as Sudhakantha (সুধাকণ্ঠ). I'm sure by seeing this post you can remember his famous songs which were 1. Bistirno parore,2. Moi eti jajabor, 3. Manuhe manuhor babey, 4. Aami axomiya nohou dukhiya, 5. Axom aamar rupohi, and many more which I can keep listening to because his songs are based on the themes of communal amity, universal justice and empathy and were very popular among the people of Assam.
Today as I went out to shoot some early morning landscape shots at about 5.30 am while I was returning I entered Dighalipukhuri park at about 7.50 am and got to know that the park was about to close at 8 am so luckily got some time to frame this and when I was photographing this statue of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika at that point of time I got emotional and thought of expressing my gratitude to him by this post and I know how much he means to Assam (Northeast). Thank you so much everyone for stopping by.
